Working At Heights Medicals
Work at height means work in any place where, if precautions were not taken, a person could fall down and injure themselves.
If your staff:
- Work above ground level
- Could fall from an edge, through an opening or fragile surface
- Could fall from ground level into an opening in a floor or hole in the ground
- They will be working at height, because they can fall from one level to another
Examples of Work at Height include:
- Using working platforms
- Scaffolds
- Tower scaffolds
- Cherry pickers
- Scissor lifts
- Podium steps
- Work on a roof, piece of plant or equipment
- Using ladders or stepladders.
Occupational Health Physicians to ascertain as to whether any pre existing medical conditions or prescribed medication is likely to have an effect on the person’s ability to work or is likely to impact upon the safety and health of the individual or that of fellow workers. Any control measures or support provision would also be recommended so that the employer can ensure compliance with HSW Act 1974 and MHSW Regulations 1999; the medical is also designed to assess individual health and fitness to undertake the respective duties.
